Maria was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She has a university degree in architecture from the Lutheran University of Brazil in Canoas, where she lived for many years. Later she studied design at the Federal University in Rio Grande do Sul and assisted to numerous short-term extension courses taught by renowned professionals, who she always remembers and thanks for their dedication.

She is member of several local art groups in Flagstaff: Watermark Studios, the Artist Coalition of Flagstaff and Northern Arizona Watercolor Society (NAWS).

Maria works with different media, but particularly with watercolor. With her passion for enchanting the shapes, colors and moods Maria entertains the viewer creating an exciting subject for her art. This passion for expressing himself by drawing, painting and sculpting began long time ago, even before she started studying architecture.
